CONVENTION 2016
Good news – we have been inundated with Early-Bird registrations from the U.S. and 12 international countries! Bad news – 30” of snow delayed data entry and confirmation letters. We are nearly caught up so we will begin seating for the Capital Banquet VERY soon! Only Early-Bird registrants will be eligible for early seating and will receive an email when we are ready to begin.

Attention Chapter Leaders! You have been heard!
The All-Leaders Chapter Building Workshop at HLAA Convention 2016, on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. will cover many of the topics about which you have been asking. Spirit of HLAA Award 2015 recipient and HLAA Sarasota/Manatee president JoAnne DeVries will moderate a rollicking panel discussion of:
- Volunteer recruitment from existing chapter members
- Proven strategies for member recruitment and retention
- Building cohesiveness among chapter members
- Building community support, partners and benefactors
- Chapter newsletter development
- Program topics most likely to attract attendees
- Program topics that draw attendees
- Successful chapter social activities
- Chapter website development

- record of chapter activities
- report filing deadlines
- membership rosters
- membership renewals
- membership dues collections
- expense record keeping especially managing receipts,
- making records accessible to chapter leaders
Register for Convention TODAY, if you have not already, and get ready to join us on Wednesday afternoon for a panel you will not want to miss.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Board Member Don Doherty from Virginia has been appointed vice chairperson of the Board. The position was left vacant when Valerie Stafford-Mallis left the Board last fall.
The HLAA Board of Trustees will hold their first meeting of 2016 on February 27 and 28, in Bethesda, Maryland, at the national office. As with all Board meetings, HLAA members are welcome to attend the open agenda portions of the meeting. If you are in the area and want to attend, email Nancy Macklin. If you attend HLAA Convention 2016 in Washington, D.C., the Board will meet on Wednesday evening, June 22. All are welcome.

We are taking a break from the regularly scheduled educational webinar this month (third Wednesday of each month, 8 p.m. – 9 p.m.). The webinars will pick up again in March. Interested in presenting a webinar?
